Why do we celebrate International Tiger Day on July 29th? Every year on July 29, International Tiger Day is commemorated to increase public awareness of the plight of wild cats. The purpose of this day’s ceremonies is to inspire everyone to act responsibly to conserve the tigers’ rapidly dwindling population. To increase awareness of the global decline in the tiger population, International Tiger Day was established in 2010 during the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia.
