Holly Dahan Hindus commemorate the legends of Holika and Prahalad on Holik Dhana, also known as the burning of Holika or Holika Dahanam in Sanskrit. Holika sat next to her nephew Prahlad in the fire because she believed she could use the blessing that says fire cannot destroy her to kill Prahlad. She did, however, burn herself, saving Prahlad. It comes before Holi, the festival of colors that honors the arrival of spring.
