Tanguturi Prakasam is recognized as the “Lion of Andhra” and is known as the “Andhra Kesari.” He earned the designation because, while leading protesters waving black flags against the Simon Commission when British soldiers threatened to shoot if the crowd moved forward, Prakasam continued on, baring his chest to them.
