One of his professors, the Provençal poet Joseph Roumanille, inspired Frédéric Mistral to become passionate about poetry. His writings are infused with Provence, which permeates the content and feeling of his works as well as their language. All of his poetry eventually made it the primary character. The Felibrige literary society, which he formed, released the Provençal language dictionary Trésor dóu Félibrige, which he spent many years creating. After working on it for eight years, his most important work, Miréio, was released in 1859.
