International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance was declared by the United Nations General Assembly on December 8th, 2005. This day aims to raise awareness about landmines, request aid for mine action work, and progress toward their eradication. 4th of April will be formally established and commemorated as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action every year. It was discovered for the first time on April 4th, 2006.
