It is International Computer Literacy Day on December 2. International Computer Literacy Day was first observed in 2001 by the Indian Business National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT). To mark the institute’s 20th anniversary, the company held a celebration. In order to promote digital literacy, some members of the Parliament received computer training during a 2002 ceremony in front of then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Its goal was to make computer literacy more widely available in order to close the global digital divide, which affects millions of people globally.
