The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared March 3, the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora as World Wildlife Day on December 20, 2013, during its 68th session. Thailand proposed the event to honor and promote awareness of the world’s untamed flora and fauna. As a result, World Wildlife Day was observed for the first time in 2014.
