Why is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi known as the Bapu?Gandhi was known as Bapu because he treated everyone with the same level of concern that a father would have for his children. He always treated people with the same love and concern that a father would have for his children. Without discrimination towards their religion, race, or creed, he demonstrated love and compassion for all people. He later rose to become known as the Father of the Nation because he led all Indians in the fight for independence.
