American chemist Glenn Theodore Seaborg shared the 1951 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work and contribution to the synthesis, discovery, and investigation of ten transuranium elements. The actinide concept and the arrangement of the actinide series in the periodic table of elements were both developed as a result of his work in the area.
