Physicist and chemist Marie Salomea Skodowska-Curie was born in Poland and became a citizen of France. She was credited with discovering the elements polonium and radium after isolating radium and researching its composition and compounds. In 1911, she became the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize. She was only person to get the Nobel Prize in two different scientific categories and the first person to win it twice.
